Still Stitching.

I'm still busy stitching my final pieces ready for my degree show in a week! I did a few final prints yesterday, and am about done with sewing, just a few last touches and things that need making up, and then I will be moving on to putting together all my back up work ready to be marked.

I did this print of a tree trunk drawing, and wasn't going to use it, but its growing on me, so I will!

In Progress.

I am in the middle of creating my final pieces for my degree show, as well as putting together all supporting work for assessment, and deciding on how to present my portfolio of work. Busy busy!
I just wanted to share a few close-up peeks at my play quilt which I am in the middle of screen-printing and stitching, ready for me to sew it up hopefully at the end of this week!

I recently found these images on Cabin Porn, they look like perfect places to escape to in the middle of final deadlines and mountains of work to complete! All images below, and loads more, can be found here.

Throwback Thursday.

For this project I have taken a lot of inspiration from my own childhood; memories of making up games, adventures in the back garden, and spending a lot of time outdoors. Looking back through old photos I found this of me and my Dad by a canal!

I've also done a quick sketch from it, looking and the different textures and marks.

Instagram Lately.

 

1. I ordered a few pieces from Celia Birtwell's collaboration with Uniqlo!

2. I finally learnt how to fishtail braid my hair.

3. Freehand machine sewing late into the night with my temperamental sewing machine! 

4. Layers of patterns in my sketchbook.

5. I got my sewing machine repaired over the weekend - it turns out that the darning foot I use for freehand has been sprained the whole time!
6. I bought a bulk of cotton sewing threads from ebay, with some great colours! (I'm not a fan of the shiny looking threads, so these are great).

Stencilled leggings.

I've seen lots of handmade legging designs lately, and when I went thread shopping last week and came across some gold fabric paint, I decided it was time to join it! It was so easy, there are a bunch of tutorials floating around Pinterest and the internet. I just taped a stencil onto the area I wanted to decorate, painted according to the instructions (2 coats) and ironed it to fix. Ta-da! What do you think? I'll definitely be making some more, and it was a fun break from uni work.
