Donna Wilson.

I have chosen Donna Wilson as one of my final case studies as a brand who most influences my work, because I love her designs and quirky knitted characters! Here is the information I have gathered about her:

Who? Donna Wilson is a company selling homeware, gift and children’s products based around fun graphics and quirky ideas. Donna set up her company in 2003 after graduating from RCA with a final collection of knitted characters.

What? Products include gloves, scarves, blankets, tea towels, ceramic tableware, stationery, kits and toys. Donna has also had a solo exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park showing knitted sculptures and paintings.
Where? The studio and workshop is based in London, with an online shop and stockists based all over the world.
Why? The idea is to create products that people can connect with and will want to treasure for years to come, building memories. British manufacturers and suppliers are used wherever possible, helping to keep traditional craftsmanship alive. Everything made is designed to make people smile, bringing fun to their world.
How? Donna’s characters are knitted from a knitting machine in the studio, meaning each is different, giving a unique, hand-made quality to the pieces. Natural wools are used for all knitted and felted products.
Me! I love the quirky designs and powerful graphics that are unique to the Donna Wilson brand. I think the colour palettes based upon nature, with bright details work well on designs. I am also really inspired by the way that Donna has built her brand from her degree show to develop products to fill a whole home, creating an individual feel with a sense of fun.

All information and products found on the Donna Wilson website.
