Eat Read Watch Need

1. Eat - now that the weather is getting cooler I am looking forward to buying a soup flask and making some big batches of soup to take to work, and have at weekends as a picnic when we go out for the day. I'm thinking of trying this soup by Bleubird soon, it looks so good!

2. Read - this book by Carrie Tiffany sounds really good, though if I had just seen the title and not the blurb I don't think I would fancy it! Have you read it?

3. Watch - I have definitely gotten hooked into the Mindy Project, I love it and can't wait for season 2 to come out in the UK. While I wait I may have to rewatch season 1!

4. Need - ever since seeing Katie out and about with this cute backpack, it has been growing on me! I just love the style of it, so fun!

Sketchbook Sunday.

This pattern is inspired by mussel shells I collected on my holiday in Spain, I had fun working on small details, creating repetition. What do you think?

Nature Trail.

Last weekend we went blackberry picking and I collected some small pieces of nature to take home and draw! I love finding organic patterns in nature, all the shapes and colours, everything is different!

Hope you have a lovely weekend! I'm looking forward to catching up with design stuff, blogging and sleep after a busy week at work!

King Alfred's Tower.

A few weeks ago we visited King Alfred's Tower in Wiltshire. We took a picnic, and it turned out to be a warm day, so I didn't end up climbing to the top, but it was still pretty fun to walk around. It's surrounded by woodland, in the middle of a long field. The tower is a really unusual shape, and was apparently built on the borders of Somerset, Wiltshire and Devon (though the county border lines have now moved). Have you visited anywhere fun lately? I love having a day out, it seems to make the weekend feel longer for some reason!

Autumn time.

Since yesterday was the first official day of Autumn, I've allowed myself to start thinking about all the exciting things that come with leafy walks and chilly days (OK, I'll be honest, it really started as soon as I stepped off the plane from Spain to rainy British weather).
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Have you seen the colour palettes in the A/W 13 Poetry collection? Love the dusty blues and pinks!
And the coats with detachable fleece liners? So cosy and warm, but I would need a smallish one so I don't get too swamped!
Since I have learned to crochet I have decided I need that cute scarf with ears in my life, pattern is in the latest issue of Simply Crochet. With that and a fleecy coat I'm sure to get mistaken for a bear at some point this Autumn/ Winter!
While we are talking clothes, I think I finally need to find 'the perfect jeans' this year, I've always avoided them (and any trousers really) as I struggle to find a size/style that suits my short frame. Any recommendations?
Sadly I'm not sure my laptop will last to see the end of 2013, so I'm also on the hunt for a new laptop, which will of course mean new laptop accessories as well!
One more goal for the season - find my signature hot drink recipe (aside from my morning instant coffee). Those ABM girls have so many great recipes for hot drinks, I may have to get around to actually trying some!
How about you, what are you excited for this Autumn?

Sketchbook Sunday.

I've decided to bring a new feature to the blog, to help me keep up to date with one of my goals, which is to fill a sketchbook with drawings and patterns. So this is the first post of Sketchbook Sunday! This pattern is inspired by a gate I saw on holiday in Greece last year. I love circles, and experimenting with colours, I love how different this pattern can look! More on that later, but for now, a page of my sketchbook. What do you think? Do you want to draw more?

Spain.

These are the final photos of my trip to Spain (more here and here). I am already missing the sunshine and fed up of the rain back in England!

^ I would love to live somewhere near a goat herder - so old fashioned, and I think the sound of goat bells is so calming!

^We found some amazing abandoned buildings (I am slightly obsessed with ruins, as you may remember from all the way back in this project).

^So many amazing views! Feel free to book me a flight back to Spain!

22 at 22.

Inspired by a number of bloggers (Bianca, Kara and many more) I decided to write a list for the year, since I turned 22 last week (ackkk!). It was fun to decide what I wanted to achieve this year and it will be good to see what I actually get done. It's just for fun! Have you ever done a list like this?

P.S - how cute is this bowl I got from Anthropologie in Spain for about 2 euros! There were so many patterns and colours to choose from.

P.P.S - since I started my new job on Monday it has been tricky to find daylight to take any photos now the days are getting shorter!

A trip to the Alhambra.

While I was in Spain, we visited Granada, to see the Alhambra. We ended up visiting early in the morning as it was the only time we could get tickets, but it ended up being great as it wasn't to busy and we avoided the heat of the day.
It was such an amazing experience, I never realised there would be so much to see. So many beautiful details, colours and designs.

Around every corner they were different fun details to see. I can imagine you could visit many times and see something new each time.

^If you ever visit, make sure you look up so you don't miss any of the amazing details!

^As you get higher and higher up there are amazing views to see of the city below.

^ I loved peeking through all the windows and doors to see different views.

^There are amazing flowers and even citrus trees growing around each corner.
Have you ever visited the Alhambra? If so what did you think? Or if you are planning on visiting Granada at any point then I really recommend a trip to the Alhambra! If you are planning to go, I would suggest booking tickets in advance, as it can get fairly busy.

Holiday.

I'm back! I know, you may not even have noticed I had gone (I prepared a few scheduled posts in my absence).  I flew to Malaga for some late sunshine. It was lovely, sunny, and I ate way too much, an ideal holiday really. I will have a few more photos to share from my trip soon, but for now I will leave you with a few peeks from my adventure!

Retreat.

For anyone not quite ready for Autumn, treat yourself to a retreat, a chance to soak up the last days of summer, relax, get ready for shorter days. Sounds ideal to me!

 1, 2, 3, 4.

But I'm sure soon enough I will be reminded of warming food, crunching through leaves and warmer clothes and be happy enough for Autumn.

Eat Read Watch Need.

EAT - These recipes on Green Kitchen Stories all look so tasty! All vegetarian and healthy they look perfect as the days get shorter.

READ - I just downloaded this finally and can't wait to start reading, I've heard a lot of good reviews. Have you read it?

WATCH - After listening to Bossypants on audiobook, I really want to give 30 Rock, as I've never seen it before.

NEED - Since rewatching Chocolat (such a good movie!) the other day I was reminded of how long I have been looking for some simple, lace up boots just above ankle length with a small heel, like Anouk wears, as well as Mary in the Secret Garden. Once day I hope to find a perfect pair!

Contrasts.

I have been busy designing some new contrast patterns from the Skillshare class I have been taking. It has been fun seeing what everybody else creates, and I decided to create some simple designs inspired by patterns I saw on my trip to Greece last year. I've been getting used to Illustrator and finding loads of fun things you can do with it. Do you enjoy Illustrator? Or taken any classes on Skillshare? It is such a great idea, I really recommend checking it out if you have never seen it before!
