On Boxing Day we went out on a walk through the forest. It always feels good to get outside after eating so much over Christmas (I can't be the only one to spend Christmas eating!). This time I felt like taking a few different foresty photos, to capture how mysterious they always feel, so I experimented with some sepia effects. What do you think? Also, yes, I had a lovely Christmas, it was good to relax and be at home. I hope everyone else who celebrates had a good time!

Its the last Sketchbook Sunday of the year! I will be continuing with this next year though, experimenting with different materials and techniques, and possibly even attempting a landscape, urban environment or something man-made! Are you hoping to draw more next year?

This year I am working on Christmas Eve, so I have actually wrapped my presents early! Well except for a couple that I need to buy/finish tonight! But as I am ahead of the game, I decided to make my own wrapping, using a roll of brown paper I had left over. I created a circle stamp pattern using a cotton wool bud, and a cork, with some white and gold paint. I added some embroidery thread ties and paper doilies I had leftover. I also created these stitch tags using this awesome tutorial from Swoon Studio. There are so many great ideas about for wrapping gifts, but I thought I would share what I created, just for more ideas for those of you who haven't finished (or started) wrapping up your presents yet!

Its my second last sketchbook share of the year! This week I tried something a little different from my usual style. It took a while, but I enjoyed it, I actually find it relaxing doing this sort of doodle. It's in no way perfect, but it's something to work from! Last night I wrote a long list of different materials and techniques to try out in my sketchbook, so next year you should see a few different pages!

If you've seen any of my nature posts before, you may have noticed, I love getting up close and zooming in with my camera (macro is the technical term I'm looking for!). So I went out last weekend in search of winter leftovers outside! I recently read The Secret Garden (I loved that film as a kid, and am not quite sure how I only just got around to reading the book). Anyway, reading about the children growing their garden reminded me how much I love how plants look just as they are starting to grow, or at the end of the year. I love how dashes of colour and growth peek out through the weeds and leftovers from summer. What is your favourite season for nature? I don't think I actually have a favourite season!

This week my drawing is actually an old one, from about a year ago. I found it when I was tidying up this week and wanted to share it, because I still really like it! I love the layers and the subject matter, though I would like to have done the background texture in a different colour, and added more detail to the plant.

Last weekend we took a trip to the forest, for a short adventure before coming home to decorate the Christmas tree! There were lots of interesting things to see, mushrooms growing down low, blackberry plants left over from Autumn, mossy branches.

Since accepting the fact that it is actually December, I have started planning presents to get for my favourite people, and decorating with sparkles and Christmasness! And I found the time to think of a few things I'm wishing for this season. I've tried to mix it up with a few things I need (my current set of watercolours only has about 3 colours left, and none of those are what they started off as in life!) amd some things which are pure treats! It has been nice this year not to have anything boring that I just need for uni or college or something! What are you hoping for this season?

This week I decided to draw something a little more detailed and patterned than I usually go for. Inspired by an acorn shell I picked up on one of my adventures many weeks ago, although the shape is a little funny, I like the pattern I have created. Have you done any drawing lately?

After getting over the initial shock that it is December already, I have started to embrace it! I've been gathering inspiration on Pinterest and thinking about all the fun stuff that comes with winter and Christmas. All images below can be found on my Pinterest board, along with their original sources!
Winter goodness list:
*time off from work (this is the main excitement)
*Christmas crafts, so many cute things I could make
*frost, and maybe even snow
*Christmassy music (I've started listening to this Anthropologie playlist on Spotify)
*decorating (putting our tree up this weekend)
*food (the one time of year it's acceptable to eat everything yummy)
What are you looking forward to this season?

So its December! I have no idea how that happened, but I need to get all Christmassy soon! But first, I wanted to make my November moodboard (you can see October here and more of November's boards on Karin's blog). November was amazing, I went to Cornwall! That was the best thing, and even better I took my new wellies with me. I also did a little makeover on my blog, which you can see! The old design was from when I was blogging for uni, based around my graduate collection over 5 months ago (umm, this whole year is flying by!).
